This site is a catalog

epicdirectories.com catalogs 164 directories — sites whose job is to index other things — across 13 categories. Package registries, open science datasets, job boards, font libraries, trail databases, archives of out-of-copyright books.

Every entry is checked by hand before it goes live. It has to resolve over HTTPS with a valid certificate, be a real directory rather than a landing page with a resources tab, and have enough in it to be useful to somebody arriving cold. The full bar is written down on the suggestions page, because a standard you won't publish isn't a standard.

Each one is also screenshotted, so you can see what a site actually looks like before you spend a click on it. Where a screenshot is missing it's because the site blocks automated visitors — that's noted rather than faked.

The platform is the product

EpicDirectories is directory infrastructure. It gives you an API, an admin UI, media processing and an import pipeline for running a directory of any kind — local listings, product catalogs, or events recurring across time and place. It deliberately does not host your website. You pull your content at build time and publish it wherever you like, on a domain you control.

The part people find surprising is what it doesn't do: it does not host your website. There is no page builder and no theme gallery. You pull an entire directory through one export endpoint at build time, render it however you like, and publish it on a domain and a host you control. If EpicDirectories disappeared, you would still have your content and your site would still be up.

That constraint is the reason this catalog exists. It is the same platform, consumed the same way any other directory would consume it — one API key, one export call at build time, static HTML on a CDN. Nothing here is a special case, which means anything broken here is broken for everyone.
